We cannot think of anybody who would not want to lunch or dine at the top of this magnificent, world famous City of London building and invite clients, colleagues, family, friends or one’s bank manager and lawyer to share the pleasure. There is no more prestigious contemporary address in London.
To invite guests to The Gherkin has limitless potential: with its soaring views of the City, who could possibly fail to back your latest wizard business idea?
Everybody knows that the City of London has plenty of closely guarded doors, but the most closely guarded of all belong to The Gherkin. This amazing venue has established itself as one of the city’s premier entertaining spots, usually only open to tenants of the building, those with a private membership—and our Club Members. To get in, one must undergo airport-style security. Pass muster, and a silent lift will transport you smoothly up The Gherkin, and into the even smoother Club operation: Searcys at The Gherkin is far more than London’s highest private members club. It is a refuge from the hustle and bustle of business life.
The very apex of the Gherkin is home to the restaurant, the bar and the two private rooms, in which guests can socialise, entertain and relax with panoramic views of London that are unparalleled.
As to the food, this is excellent, from the bar menu to the fine dining menu, and special occasion menus including such treats as Mother's Day, when three courses costs £49 and includes a Buck's Fizz welcome. You might for example start with salmon mi-cuit with avocado, oyster emulsion and fennel, or gammon terrine with burnt apple puree and pickled onion or watercress soup with slow-cooked egg and salted granola, moving on to roast Cumbrian beef, pommel puree, sand carrot and Yorkshire pudding, or south coast halibut, clam, fondant potato and fish cream, or pan roast duck, crispy leg, and petit pois a la Francais. For puddings, you might choose from the Gherkin's delightful rhubarb and finer panna cotta, Manjari cremeux, banana and salted peanut ice cream, or Caramac creme brûlée.
All in all, a memorable and unmissable experience, whether you choose to lunch, to dine, or enjoy a drink and a light snack in the bar.
Prices correct at time of going to press. All include VAT; a discretionary service charge of 12.5% is added to the bill. A £50 per head charge is made for bookings cancelled within 24 hours of the appointed table time. All guests' names must be provided to us in advance and ID shown to the ground-floor security on arrival.
