Silk square by the 18th century French Rococo artist Nattier: Fashion, romance, elegance and perfect style: this artistic new silk scarf from Fox & Chave at the National Gallery has it all!

Original price was: £65.00.Current price is: £49.00.

This summer, one item has come to be the accessory of the season: the scarf—or rather, the large silk square. Worn in the classic styles, on your head or around your neck, it embodies current trends as well as Fifties glamour as per Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and of course HM Queen Elizabeth II. This, after all, is the classiest of silk scarves—so square, so Hermes, and so practical for keeping our hair in place!

The silk square has appeared on every catwalk showing this summer’s trends—and so too romance, which was in the air everywhere in the shape of fresh, pale pink roses. The rose theme persisted across fashion’s four main cities, rose prints and more spanning designers from Rei Kawakubo to Richard Quinn.

We think this beautiful silk square has it all, including the romance! It features a gorgeous single pink rose within its background, detail from the painting ‘Manon Balletti’ by French Rococo painter Jean-Marc Nattier (1685-1766), one of the leading portraitists in the reign of Louis VX. The painting, which hangs in the National Gallery, depicts Maria Maddalena Balletti, ‘Manon’, daughter of Comédie Italienne actors and a lover of Casanova.

This delightful and artistic scarf is craftsman printed in beautiful subtle shades of pink and grey-blue on the finest silk twill and finished with traditional, artisan hand rolled hems. Being a large scarf, 80in square, it will achieve the most glamorous styles. It makes a discerning gift too. Limited edition, so please don’t delay.
